Nutrition

I went to the finest business presentation on health The Presenters -

Dr Peter Atherton M.B.Ch.B., D.Obst. R.C.O.G., F.R.C.G.P
In 1968 Dr. Atherton qualified at Leeds University and after six years in the Royal Army Medical Corps continued in General Practiice in the UK, where he remained for 30 years. The following two years he spent as a Research fellow at Oxford University researching the medicinal qualities of Aloe Vera, a special interest within his dermatology practice. After Oxford he spent six years as Director of Europe's residential naturopathic clinic, Tyringham.

The interest combined with an understanding of the power of herbal remedies gained whilst serving in the far east and india led to his fascination with aloe vera. He uses aloe vera as a complementary therapy in his practice, whilst trying to advance its cause amongst both the lay and medical community. His main goal is to see more randomised double-blind controlled clinical trials set up and he is convinced they will verify the anecdotal evidence that abounds.

The most fascinatingly clever man I've been presented with:
Dr Peter Atherton M.B.Ch.B., D.Obst. R.C.O.G., F.R.C.G.P
Business School senior lecturers at University likewise.

Dorne Parker I.H.B.C. I.F.H.B. Nutrition I.T.E.C
After achieving her International Health and Beauty Council Diploma in 1977, my first position was in a hair and beauty salon where she was manager for 3 years. After that she moved to another health and beauty salon where she was Manager for 5 years. It was here that she gained experience and training on Clairns and Rene Guinot facial and body products. During this period, she also trained in laser therapy (which is a non surgical form of face lift) in Harley Street, London. She left the Industry to have two sons.

Dorne achieved a qualification in Psychology and has always been involved in the hair and beauty industry.
She presented a health and nutrition for life plan so mesmerising, it was inspiration.

General Nutrition`
Repeated scientific studies have shown that the most important factor in the prevention and treatment of disease is now taken for granted by doctors and scientists. Diet is a major factor of diseases of the Western World.

' I make no apology for saying that the health of the majority of human beings depends more on their nutrition than it does on any other single factor. However important and dramatic have been the advances in hygiene, medicine and surgery, it is still true that even more important will be the effects proper nutrition would have on human mortality. For this reason, I believe that the ultimate objective of nutritionists must be the nutritional education of the public'

Professor John Yudkin, Emeritus Professor of Nutrition at London University

What is Nutrition?
Nutrition is the sum of the processes involved in taking in nutrients, assimilating and utilising them.

What are Nutrients?
Essential nutrients are those substances (protein, carbohydrates  fats, vitamins and minerals) necessary for growth, normal funtioning and maintaining life. They must be supplied by foods because they cannot be made by the body.

The main nutrients known to be essential for humans are:
  • amino acids (protein)
  • essential fatty acids (fats)
  • carbohydrates
  • vitamins
  • minerals
  • others (fibre, oxygen, water)
If we get all of these essential dietary requirements. We have to take control of our own immune system. Having anti-biotic prescribed, or buying painkillers from the supermarket, is letting nature beat us. We don't need to use everyday painkillers for headaches, nausea, aches and pains. Hundreds of thousands of people die each year due to their poor health, causing their doctor to prescribe anti-biotic and/or ibuprofen, aspirin, and paracetamol which cause liver problems and various other side affects. There are two and a half million people admitted to hospital because of their nutritional abandonment. The people who go into hospital are at risk of contracting further infection. One in ten, at the very least, will contract further infection.

If you consume supplements as part of a healthy diet a stimulating absorption process takes place. It's linked together with the intestine

Factors that influence nutritional status.
